The natural ice wall of Misotsuchi, Chichibu, Japan — Behold, the magic of the Misotsuchi Icicles in Chichibu, Japan! This breathtaking natural ice wall, over 30 metres wide and 10 metres tall, is formed by spring water freezing as it trickles down a rock face. St. Joseph North Pier Inner and Outer Lights, Michigan, USA — Amid dusky hues, lighthouses mark where Lake Michigan meets the St. Joseph River in the USA. In the 19th century, two piers were built on Lake Michigan, one either side of the mouth of the St. Joseph River to help protect ships sailing upstream. Pollinator Week — Let"s celebrate the small heroes who help plants flourish! It"s Pollinator Week, celebrating the creatures which transport pollen to help plants reproduce. While some plants are self-pollinating, or pollinated by wind or water, the majority of them are fertilised with the help of bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, birds—like the green-crowned brilliant hummingbird in today"s image—and even bats. The non-profit organisation Pollinator Partnership initiated Pollinator Week to raise awareness about the protection of these creatures.
